About Sean
I’m a Counsellor, a Traditional Acupuncturist and a Cognitive Hypnotherapist based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. I’m passionate about using these approaches to help people with a wide range of problems, and am committed to helping people in a way that makes a real difference to the quality of their lives.
I’ve had an extensive education in lots of different approaches to helping people. I had an 8 year training in Chinese Medicine, four years of which was spent studying Shiatsu and Tui-na (oriental forms of medicinal bodywork) at The Shiatsu College London and The University of Westminster. From there I went on to gain my degree in Acupuncture at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. This 4 year BSc hons degree was a comprehensive training in Traditional Acupuncture under some of the most respected teachers in Europe.
After being in practice for a while, I became interested in how hypnosis could be used to help people in pain. This led me to train initially at The Institute of Clinical Hypnosis, before going on to train in Cognitive Hypnotherapy at The Quest Institute. These trainings deepened my interest in the therapeutic relationship, and lead to me completing a 3 year diploma in counselling at The Gestalt Centre in London.
I've been in private practice in Berkhamsted for 16 years and have previously worked with the NHS delivering acupuncture as part of a pain management program. I have also been a counsellor with the psychological charity MIND.
I'm a member of The British Acupuncture Council and a member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
