I’m a Counsellor, a Traditional Acupuncturist and a Cognitive Hypnotherapist based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. I’m passionate about using these therapeutic approaches to help people with their physical and emotional health and am committed to helping people in a way that makes a real difference in the quality of their lives.
I’ve had an extensive education in lots of different approaches to helping people. I had an 8 year training in Chinese Medicine, four years of which was spent studying Shiatsu and Tui-na (oriental forms of medicinal bodywork) at The Shiatsu College London and The University of Westminster. From there I went on to gain my degree in Acupuncture at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. This 4 year BSc hons degree was a comprehensive training in Traditional Acupuncture under some of the most respected teachers in Europe.
After being in practice for a while, I encountered a psychotherapist who told me remarkable stories of the things he’d seen hypnosis do for people in pain. This sparked my curiosity and led me to train initially at The Institute of Clinical Hypnosis, before going on to train in Cognitive Hypnotherapy at The Quest Institute. These trainings deepened my interest in working with people from an emotional and psychological perspective, and lead to me completing a 3 year diploma in counselling at The Gestalt Centre in London.
I now work solely in private practice in Berkhamsted but have previously worked with the NHS delivering acupuncture as part of a pain management program, and have also been a counsellor with the psychological charity MIND.
I’m a member of The British Acupuncture Council which is the main governing body for the practice of Traditional Acupuncture in the UK, and of The National Council for Hypnotherapy which ensures the highest standards in the quality of training. I receive regular supervision, which is essential for any therapist and am part of a supervisory group of a collective of practitioners who support each other in our work as therapists.
