About me as a Counsellor
In describing a bit about how I work I should start by saying I’m not the kind of therapist that doesn’t say anything back to you. It’s likely I’ll be interested and curious about all sorts of different aspects of what you might talk about with me, so you can expect engagement and dialogue in our session.
One of the things I love about the context of a counselling relationship is it’s a place in which you say anything about what you’re experiencing and its fine. So I value a lack of censorship in the conversation which means you can speak openly and freely. I’m not interested in judging you but more in helping you discover yourself. When you’re not worried about being judged there’s a lot you can find yourself saying which allows you to hear yourself in new ways, this is very powerful.
I’ve spent lots of time on both sides of the counselling relationship both as a client and a therapist so I know about the vulnerability involved in talking about things that are not easy to talk about. As such it’s important to me that I’m sensitive and compassionate with whatever it is that you’re bringing. Kindness is one of the most important qualities in a therapist and I always endeavour to be that.
I work with people both in the short term and the long term. I might see someone for a month, or for a period of years depending on what they need and what feels right. I don’t work with children. I tend to leave that to those therapists that specialise in that area so you need to be over 18 if you want to see me.
My fee for counselling is £70 per 1 hour session
